Bible Verses About Grief and Loss
Grief is love with nowhere to go, and the Bible never rushes it. Jesus wept at a graveside He was about to empty. These scriptures sit with you in the valley — they don’t hurry you out of it.
Psalm 34:18 promises that “the LORD is near to the brokenhearted; He saves the contrite in spirit,” and Revelation 21:4 holds the end of the story: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death.”

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Jesus wept.
Brothers, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who are without hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.
For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning.
Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!
