Bible Verses About Hope
Hope in Scripture isn’t wishful thinking — it’s a rope tied to something solid. These verses are for the waiting room, the hard diagnosis, the long prayer not yet answered.
Jeremiah 29:11 carries God’s own declaration of hope — “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope” — and Romans 15:13 prays that “the God of hope” would fill you “with all joy and peace as you believe.”
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why the unease within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.
Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see.
Yet I call this to mind, and therefore I have hope: Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!
Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.
But I will always hope and will praise You more and more.
For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see? But if we hope for what we do not yet see, we wait for it patiently.
For surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.
